Earlier in June I posted a piece about my unexpected encounter with the Evolve Program and my at the time rebuffed attempts to learn more about it. I have filed three FOIP requests about it so far. One, to the Province of Alberta, was returned with no information (Alberta provides no funding to Evolve or OPV so it was just a mistake on my part to make one to Alberta). A second, to the City of Edmonton, has come back informing me that no City of Edmonton funding has gone to the Evolve Program. They provided OPV with $25k in 2018 for a Resiliency program and have provided an unspecified amount of funding to their current Youth Vulnerability Reduction Protocol. I then put in a third FOIP, at the Federal level, about the funding provided by Public Safety Canada. I have not yet received a response but will update when I do.
Anyone who posts and endorses an old Pogo cartoon can't be all bad ... 😉🙂
I probably have close to 20 years on you so my memories of the strip are maybe more extensive but, like you, I didn't really appreciate the depth until I was much older.
Hi Steersman -- this is actually a no-Pogo version of the post, which I am as sad about as anybody! I will find a way to get Pogo in in future posts :)
And I see you commented on a recent post by "Unyielding Bicyclist", a going concern though I hope she doesn't try tangling with any trucks ... 🙂 But apropos of which, of gender woo -- for which anthropology has to take some responsibility 😉🙂 ..., and ICYMI, my comment there:
👍🙂 And Happy Alberta Day too -- I was born in Edmonton, although too many decades ago. 🙂 But it should warm the cockles of Alberta's heart that Trans Mountain is, finally, shipping oil -- through BC's port, at least 10 million barrels since May. Now all we have to do is prevent Justin from giving it away to the Natives for a song. 🙂
But I'm curious about your "no-Pogo version". I see it's there in the email version -- I had actually been wondering earlier this morning who it was that had posted something on Pogo -- but it's absent in the current one -- removed for copyright reasons?

👍🙂 I'll look forward to them -- may have to look through my anthology of Pogo that I inherited from my parents for some ideas ... 🙂
But, en passant, Happy Canada Day! 🙂 ICYMI, my recent post on Leonard Cohen and Monty Python's "I am a Lumberjack" 😉🙂:
