Oh how clearly the bell of Truth sings to me in this sentence you wrote here: “gender identity” is another way of saying “sex role stereotype” and to suggest that women like me identify with sex role stereotypes is grossly insulting."

I'm going to memorize this, it's so perfectly succinct, -- appreciating all you are able to put into written word on this topic, thank you!!

You are too kind but I should hasten to confess that I did not figure this out by myself -- I'm pretty sure it was Sheila Jeffreys whom I first heard explain "gender identity" as a euphemistic way of saying "sex role stereotype". Some older wiser radfem than I anyway!

When it comes to corporations, universities, politicians and the media, I get it: they think that gender ideology is where the money is. But schools? Cui bono? In any case, next to this gender ideology stuff, the religion of our parents has never looked so good.

Proponents of pluralism and moderation are at a disadvantage when trying to curb crackpot authoritarian maximalism. I greatly appreciate this write-up. It's fair-minded.

You can guarantee that the members of the policy review committee include gender activists not interested in assessing what the community wants and needs and instead believes they “know best” and are “morally justified” in installing their beliefs and values in policy regardless of opposition and valid concerns. Do you know the identities of the members of that committee? The minutes of those meetings should be made public and the meetings should be open to members of the community. Likely also they have hired a consultant to guide their process. Additionally, all major policy reviews like this should be brought to the school districts parent association for the district. BC’s are called DPACs (district parent advisory committees). Idk what Alberta’s are. The parent groups - who are the voice of parents in the district- should have been meaningfully consulted and feedback from that group brought to the policy review committee. This should have been done in addition to the survey sent out to all parents so that parents could get together and have a discussion about the issues.

From what I gathered at the Board meeting, Trustee Sumar was on the committee as was Trustee Hole; they made a joke about Trustee Estabrooks being an "honorary" member. I don't know who the other committee members were, it's an interesting question.

I would like to know who wrote the definitions in the new glossary. They are aggressively ideological.

All of your suggestions about pursuing minutes and so on: I agree that this would be good to do. Unfortunately I am not in a position to take this on, just time-wise. If very few parents in a community are paying attention, school boards can get away with a lot of shenanigans. I'd love to have more help -- it sounds like you don't live in Edmonton but I am open to being contacted by more parents who do.

Thank uou for this, Kathleen! Please consider me kne of your Lesbian friends with same-SEX sexuality. The parallel between labelling some one Cis and an Infidel is Spot On! It is insulting and a grotesque lie to assume anyone "identifies" with the bs straight-jackets that different society's put on males and females.

So glad I hot out of the teaching profession before this crap started.

Thanks Alex! And yes, it's darkly hilarious how often genderists use cis as a term of abuse (and how insulting the term really is) and then they write up a policy where all the lesbians, gays, and straights are supposed to be like "cool cool, yes please put insults about us in your official policies and also say in writing you are going to work to take us down, we understand it's all we deserve"

I’ll put it back up soon I hope — the person with whom I spoke said he had not realized I’d be writing about it. I thought this was clear, but I said I would take it down while he mulled it.

ya I was surprised in the first paragraph that he'd agreed to be "public" about this.
